District Vision: Provide technical assistance and environmental education to promote sound natural resource management utilizing a watershed approach.

Primary Activities

1. Conduct projects that demonstrate or test new conservation methods

2. Present workshops on natural resource topics

3. Assist Town “Land Use” Commissions with environmental reviews of development plans

4. Work with local citizens and towns to raise awareness of natural resource concern

Dan Mullins, Executive Director

Scott

Dan brings with him more than a decade of experience spearheading a project in Willimantic to restore the Willimantic River and its migratory fish, while creating an urban whitewater facility for recreational boating. While at the University Of Connecticut School Of Law, Dan studied environmental law, interning at Connecticut Fund for the Environment (CFE), Trout Unlimited and the University Of Connecticut Office Of Environmental Policy. Dan served on UConn’s Water and Wastewater Advisory Committee and on the Board of Trustees of Joshua’s Trust. Dan can be reached at our Norwich office at 860-319-8808.

Judy Rondeau, Natural Resource Specialist, CPSEC

 

Judy serves the ECCD as both a Natural Resource Specialist and the Niantic River Watershed Coordinator. She has an MS degree in Natural Resource Management, and a background in water quality, municipal wetlands regulation and environmental education.  Judy can be reached at 860-319-8807 on Tuesdays and Thursday and the remainder of the week at our Brooklyn office at 860-774-9600 ext 13.

 

Kate Johnson, Office Manager

Kate's administrative background includes work with alternative energy and conservation. She maintains a cooperative team spirit and loves working with the public. You can reach Kate at 860-319-8806.

 

Micheal Soares, Conservation Technician

Michael is working with a number of NRCS projects related to soil health, cover cropping, edge of field runoff monitoring and assisting farmers with conservation planning.  Michael will be working out of our Norwich office.  To reach him, call 860-319-8809.

 

 

 Maura Robie, Conservation Technician

Maura has a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a varied background in municipal wetland regulations, consulting/stewardship at Joshua's Trust, watershed preservation restrictions support, research and environmental education. Her work will support ECCDs role in Regional Conservation Partnershop Program projects and other projects that address non-point source pollution.  You can reach Maura on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays by calling 860-319-8807.

 

 

Jean Pillo, Watershed Conservation Project Manager, CPSEC

 

Jean has an MS degree in Biology and is involved with local and regional watershed initiatives throughout eastern CT, including the Thames River Basin Partnership and the Water Advisory Committee of The Last Green Valley.   Contact her if you would like to become involved in volunteer water quality monitoring at 860-928-4948.
